1 Gang (Single), 1 or 2 Way or Multi-way 400 Watt Touch/Remote Master Dimmer, (Trailing Edge), Classic Brushed Steel (also known as Classic Matt Chrome)
Varilight Classic Brushed Steel (also known as Classic Matt Chrome), 1 Gang (Single), 1 Way (or multi-way if used with slave dimmer), 400 Watt Touch/Remote Master Dimmer, with Trailing Edge Technology, (For Mains and Almost All Low Voltage Applications)
VARILIGHT Dimmer Switches have an industry-wide reputation for exceptional performance, long life and innovation at attractive prices. This VARILIGHT Touch and Remote Dimmer Series has many more advanced features than other Trailing Edge dimmer switches: the lights can be dimmed from any location, (if used with a Slave dimmer), rather than only from the dimmer location.
Like all our products the Touch and Remote Dimmer Series are designed to meet the latest European Safety Legislation.
Touch these dimmers to dim, or alternatively use a remote control.
The dimmers are easily programmable so it is possible to dim your lights with a spare button on an existing remote control, for example a Sky or TV remote. Instructions on how to achieve this are included with the dimmer. If more than one Touch and Remote Dimmer is being used, the optional Varilight 8-channel Remote Control is available (product code YRC8).
The Touch and Remote Dimmer Series has Soft Start Technology, allowing a longer life span of the bulbs or lamps used by increasing the brightness level softly, which also creates a welcoming effect.
Touch and Remote Dimmers can be used in 1-way, 2-way, 3-way or even multi-way circuits. When using the Touch Remote Dimmers in 2-way circuits or more, they should be used with Slave Dimmers in the other switch locations. In every circuit there should be only one Touch and Remote Master Dimmer, and then any number of Slave Dimmers. This Touch and Remote Series can be used where there is conventional two-way or multi-way wiring.
The Touch and Remote Dimmer Series can be used for mains incandescent GLS lamps (standard mains light bulbs), up to the maximum load as specified on the dimmer. They can also dim GU10 or similar Hi Spot Mains Halogen lamps (only use quality UK supplied lamps) up to the maximum load as specified on dimmer. Good quality Dimmable Electronic Transformers can also be dimmed using this dimmer, please note that noise levels can depend on the quality of the Transformer being used. Choose the V-Pro Series to eliminate Dimmer Buzz, created from Dimmable Electronic Transformers.
When using Electronic Low Voltage Transformers we recommend that a maximum of 5 good quality dimmable Electronic Transformers are used (10 if Varilight) with this Dimmer range. Please note: add the watts of the bulbs/lamps if using Varilight Transformers, to determine which dimmer to select, but if using another manufacturer of Transformer, add up the VA of the Transformers so it does not exceed the maximum of the dimmer.
Choose V-Pro Dimmer Series if dimming LED's.
This Touch and Remote Series, can dim Varilight Energy Saving Lamps (ESL's), here is the Varilight buying guide: 250 Watt = 1-12 ESL's, 400 Watt = 1-15 ESL's, 600 Watt = 1-20 ESL's. This dimmer series will not dim Megaman ESL's.
Please note Touch and Remote Dimmers are not suitable for use with wire-wound Low Voltage Transformers, Fans or inductive loads, choose the V-Plus Intelligent Dimmer Series or alternatively look at the 630 Watt Low Voltage Standard Dimmer and Fan dimmer for these applications. Please check with the manufacturer that the appliance is dimmable.
