Description
These specially made double (rectangular) gaskets are now available, and are used when fitting dimmers, switches and sockets to freshly plastered, or painted walls. The chemicals in paint and more so plaster, reacts with the plate and tarnishing of the plate can occur. If this happens it breaks the warranty of the product bought. So for very little money, buy these and save yourself the hassle and expense replacing the products you have bought. Please note sometimes due to moisture in the air it could take considerably longer (up to 1 year) for the plaster to fully dry out. Afterwhich, just loosen screws of product, and pull gasket free. Can be re-used if removed carefully.

G/Day, Could you please confirm gasket material including thickness, I have 3 dimmer switches in double socket backbox with modular front mounting and decorative chrome cover. The dimmers are slightly thicker than the back box, therefore I need a gasket or gaskets to make up about 2mm gap between the front plate and white painted wall. Are your gaskets suitable for such application.

Staff answered:

Thanks for your message. These gaskets are a thin plastic sheet of about 0.5mm, so would not be suitable for your application. They are designed to provide a temporary barrier for decorative products, when fitted to a newly plastered or decorated surface (as these materials can damage decorative finishes).
