1 way (and 2 way or multi-way when using a Slave dimmer) with Polished Brass tactile touch button that includes an integrated remote control sensor. The dimmer has special software with multi modes, including Trailing and Leading Edge and the ability to adjust the minimum brightness.
Summary of Eclique2 Compatibility (Per Dimmer Module)
1 & 3 Gang Dimmers
- 1–10 dimmable LED lamps (maximum of 100W)
- 300 Watts max of Incandescent lamps
- 250 Watts max of mains, Eco and low voltage halogen lamps
- 1–6 dimmable CFLS
2 & 4 Gang Dimmers
- 1–10 dimmable LED lamps (maximum of 100W)
- 200 Watts max of Incandescent lamps
- 150 Watts max of mains, Eco and low voltage halogen lamps
- 1–6 dimmable CFLS
This dimmer is a Master dimmer. One Master dimmer is required per circuit and if the circuit is 2 or more way, then Eclique2 Slave dimmers must be used for the additional switch/dimmer locations.
Normal on/off (rocker) switches cannot be used in conjunction with this type of dimmer.
The VARILIGHT V-Pro Eclique2 Tactile Touch and Remote Dimmer Series has been designed to dim a range of different fittings:
- Most good quality dimmable LEDs
- Mains voltage incandescent GLS or candle-shaped bulbs
- Good quality dimmable electronic low voltage transformers (including those requiring trailing edge control)
- GU10 or similar good quality mains and Eco halogen bulbs
- Digiflux CFL lamps
Please see ‘more info’ for further compatibility.
Eclique2 dimmer switches are trailing edge by default but can be adjusted to leading edge for maximum lamp compatibility.
It is also easy to adjust the dimmer’s minimum brightness.
This Dimmer Series features scene setting and zonal lighting which can be operated by a Universal Remote handset, such as Varilight’s YRE8
Please note V-Pro Eclique2 Dimmers are not suitable for use with wire-wound low voltage transformers, fans or inductive loads. Please choose the V-Plus Intelligent Dimmer Series or alternatively look at Fan Dimmers for these applications. Please check with the manufacturer that the bulb or lamp is dimmable. Please choose the V-Com to work with lighting panels (LED or CFL).
Appearance and Function
The dimmer resembles a normal rocker switch, with an integrated infra-red sensor in the centre of the switch. To dim your lights, press and hold the lower part of the dimmer button and to brighten, press and hold the top of the button. A quick touch will turn the lights on or off. There are also various scene settings that can be changed to suit your environment. A double touch on the lower part of the dimmer button for example, will set the dimmer into scene setting 4 (mid-low brightness), or a double touch to the top half of the button will set the dimmer to full brightness. Please see the product instructions for further info.
This dimmer can be used in many applications, from Home to commercial premises such as offices, bars, nightclubs, retirement and nursing homes.
The V-Pro Eclique2 Series dimmers are also available as Power Grid Modules, this gives versatility to the range so you are able to mix and match Master and Slave dimmers, along with a large variety of other Power Grid switches together on the same plate.
Adjustable Dimmer Modes
V Pro Eclique 2 dimmers are set to run in trailing-edge (Mode 1) by default. This Versatile mode is suitable for most types of lighting, including many dimmable LEDs. Some lighting loads, including particular brands of dimmable LEDs perform best with leading-edge (Mode 2). There is also a third driving mode that has been designed for dimmable CFLs and integrated downlights (Mode 3). These modes can be changed without the need for an electrician by following the appropriate instructions included with the dimmer. These instructions can also be found online in the ‘specs & PDF’s’ product category.
Eclique2 dimmers also have improved software installed, enabling zonal lighting and discrete codes for scene setting, both of which can be controlled by Universal Remote controls such as Logitech Harmony or Varilight’s own YRE8
. Alternatively, you can easily program a spare button on an existing remote control, for example a Sky TV remote or YRC8
2 Way and Multi Way Dimming
It is possible to use multiple dimmer switches in a single circuit when using the Eclique2 range, this is one massive advantage over conventional dimmers. In this instance, the main switch where the live feed is present must be a master dimmer. The second switch, or 3rd switch (intermediate) must then be a slave dimmer. It is not possible to use a slave dimmer switch as a standalone dimmer in a 1 way circuit. Similarly, normal on/off rocker or impulse switches cannot be used in conjunction with Eclique2 touch remote dimmers.
For 2-way circuits: 1 Touch and Remote Master Dimmer and 1 Slave dimmer.
For 3 way circuits: 1 Touch and Remote Master Dimmer and 2 Slave dimmers.
For multi-way circuits: 1 Touch and Remote Master Dimmer and as many Slave dimmers as is needed.
The V-Pro Eclique2 dimmer is equipped with self-resetting overload protection, so is able to handle overload situations, for example if the wattage of the bulbs/lamps are accidentally too high on a circuit. The dimmer achieves this by cutting out before there is any damage (if the watts are grossly overloaded), until the load/lamps are reduced. The dimmers also contain a heat sensor which helps prevent damage to the dimmer, if it becomes too hot.
Soft Start Technology
Eclique2 dimmer switches have Soft Start Technology which increases the lamps brightness gradually when the dimmer is switched on. This creates a welcoming effect and can increase the life span of lamps used.
This range is capable of dimming up to 10 good quality LED lamps up to max load of 100W. If you need a dimmer to dim more than 10 LED lamps, then this is possible with Varilight’s V-Com Series. The V-Com is classed as a commercial dimmer, however they are also suitable for home use.
When using Electronic Low Voltage transformers we recommend that a maximum of 5 good quality dimmable electronic transformers are used (10 if Varilight). Add the watts of the lamps if using Varilight transformers to determine which dimmer to select, but if you are using another manufacturer of transformer, add up the VA of the transformers so it does not exceed the maximum wattage of the dimmer.
Resolving Issues with Poor Quality Lamps
Varilight have created 2 Special Modules to deal with issues caused by using poor quality dimmable LEDs with Eclique2 and other remote LED Dimmers. If the LED lights flicker for example, then an Active Load Module (Z2ACTIVELOAD)
can be purchased and wired in to the circuit. Or if there is a glow to the LEDs even when dimmer is turned off, then a GlowFix (YAGF)
is required. This will improve most non compatible dimmable products. If this dimmer is purchased and installed, and the LED lamps are not compatible, the dimmer is not faulty so cannot be returned to us (you’ll need to buy better quality LED lamps instead). As a rule, we recommend you purchase the LEDs
that we sell. That way you know they are compatible with Varilight LED dimmers.
